Heliogenna 2012

December 16, 2012

I celebrate the modern festival of Heliogenna.  A 9 day festival centered around the Winter Solstice.  I’ve done this for several years.  The links will take you to the prayers I’ve written for each day.  Below is my listing of the festival days.

Day one (12/17): Honor the Protogonoi and Nature spirits/Nymphs/elementals/Fey
Day two (12/18): Honor all Olympic and Celestial Gods
Day three (12/19) : Honor the Chthonic deities and the blessed dead
Day four (12/20) : Demeter’s reunion with Persephone who also brings Helios back up. (link for the story based on the prayer)
Day Five (Winter Solstice): Helios has risen!
Day six (12/22): Spring will come! Honor Demeter and all mothers.
Day seven (12/23: Day of Thanksgiving. Count your blessings. Give thanks where it is due.
Day eight & nine (12/24 & 25): Honor family and friends

Note: Day of Thanksgiving floats so that family and friends are always honored on the 24th & 25th.

Most lovely list of wonderful things! Thank you so much for the list. I’ll actually be celebrating more along the lines of Alban Arthan for the solar festival. I’ll do a write up on it later.
