Warnings
Another creative writing prompt from Imaginary Garden. This time about a monster roommate.
In a way, it was my own fault
but I was desperate for a roommate.
I was desperate for the cash.
I should have known
when Teddy was scared of him.
I mean Teddy even likes the vet!
What dog likes a veterinarian?
And he did warn me.
He did tell me to stay out of his room
over the next three nights…
something about nightmares and battle reflexes.
But when I heard the howl,
I thought the dresser fell on him or something.
So I barged in…
and now, now Teddy is afraid of me.
I didn’t expect the twist..love it!

The twist at the end shadows the entire poem. (When my wife and I went on our first date, we came back to her apartment to find that her growly Himalyan had taken a dump by the door. Damned cat knew how much trouble I’d be; maybe his graphic comment gave me guideposts for clearing the way home.)

Lol. Cats. When I had my son, our cat at the time took to peeing in his room in protest. Nothing we did changed it, so alas, we took him to a no kill shelter with a long letter on his personality. I so hope he found a home more to his liking.
