Daily Happenings: 11/15 – 11/21

November 23, 2015

What you see on my blog is a meager slice of my life.  I find writing cathartic and so do a lot of ranting  and whining, especially in these Daily Happenings posts.  Rants by definition are not based on logic.  Writing down my rants helps me to clean out the ol’ brain pan so that I can find a solution to whatever is bothering me at the moment.

Spiritually, I’m still trying to find a steady rhythm on my daily devotional (DD) practice. Right now I do a little something as it strikes me, no formal ritual, often just short chats with my gods.  I always end the day with thanks in front of my shrines.  Prayers, as always, before bed unless I’m ill.

11/15:  Got up and got moving.  Ran errands, loaded up the boychild so that we could make it home before the game.  Wow that is a game I could have done without watching.  However, I did finish stitching a gift ornament.  Started designing the ornament for my niece.  Hubby home late.  He went to bed way early as he wasn’t feeling well.  So I washed the dog by myself and had no problems, thankfully.

11/16:  Helping my dad order a gift for my mom.  Came home from work to both Hubby and Boychild in a good mood.  Been a while since that has happened. Helped Hubby with paperwork.  Finished designing niece’s ornament.  Designed nephew’s ornament.  Came home to a happy household…a rarity that I’m so thankful for!

11/17:  Low motivation…though I did get laundry started and stitched more on the skeleton. Parent-teacher conference after work.  I’m thankful to say that it went better than I expected.  Still plenty of room for improvement but his teacher was very upbeat about him and what he has been doing.  So thankful for a teacher like her!  Watched a movie with Hubby…it wasn’t until the end of the movie that he said he had a hard time hearing some of it.  Why wait until the very end to say something?  WHY?  So confused about the refugee situation.  So wanting to help and yet so fearful of that bad apple.

11/18:  didn’t sleep well.  Morning brunch at work for a volunteer who is leaving.  Grocery store and dinner in the crockpot.  Finished stitching the skeleton and started picking out fabric for the ornaments.  Got nothing done that I wanted to do tonight.  Ended up in a nasty argument with the Husband over planning for the future, where in he accused me of being like my father… Thankful for my craft supplies and my creativity.

11/19:  didn’t sleep well.  Wrote a couple of letters, one of which I may or may not send.  Started stitching nephew’s lightning ornament.  Nothing like having your child be the worst behaved of all the children at the library program that you are helping to run.  Craft night where I finished all but the back stitch on the ornament.  Leo has a wound on this back leg, looks like a fight with another cat so there may be a nail sheath in the wound, not sure we got it out.  😦  Thankful for craft night and the ladies who attend.

11/20:  Boychild has a half day today and all next week off.  Ordered sister’s birthday gift and nephew’s VERY late birthday gift (books for the telescope that we gave him…hope it still works as Dad bought it for us when we were kids though we rarely if ever used it).  Updated wishlists, including the one on pinterest…well mostly.  Found a craft idea for the grandmothers.  Restless and can’t find anything I want to do.  Hubby is foaming at the mouth angry…someone stole about half of the wood he had stacked on a client’s property.  Cat’s wound was swollen but no pus and we didn’t get anything but some blood and growls out of him so maybe it worked its way out today.  Thankful for the money/ability to gift others.

11/21:  Hubby worked today so I did a bit of gift ordering and then worked on making bits for holiday cards while the boychild colored.  Talked to my sister for about an hour.  She was bored I suspect while driving to Texas.  Hubby had me order a wood burner so now I will be able to do some nifty gifts.  Also debated about whether to order vanilla extract or vanilla beans and decided the beans were more economical since we still have some Captain Morgans.  Hubby seems to be finally getting the bug to finish the living room…  Today I am thankful for my husband who is always supportive.
