Spring Haikus

April 15, 2015

My son was talking to me about Bosho, a Japanese poet who wrote in haiku after reading about him in a Magic Tree House book.  He said he wanted to write poems, so I figured this morning I’d show him (later) how haiku is done.

First line 5 syllables, second 7 and third 5 again.

Spring snow falls softly
melting shortly thereafter
resulting in mud

muddy paw prints here
muddy paw prints over there
spring should be outside

allergy cough cough
allergy sneeze blow cough gag
why did I miss spring
