Received RAK
So I answer the door to find my mailman holding a rather large package. I was baffled. I’m not party of any stitching exchanges right now. Will be seeing my family for the holidays so none of them would be sending me something…
Canada? Who would be sending me something…Submerina!
Being a child at heart and with no one to stop me from opening it (you should wait until Solstice to open this you know…F*CK OFF the child said to the rather startled adult. Internal wars gotta love them.), I yanked out the knife and started cutting the tape away. First thing out of the box was something soft wrapped in tissue paper which said “for your little acorn”. So I handed it to my son. It was an abominable snow monster (aka Bumbles) from Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer (though he still has his teeth). My son adores it. Next out was two boxes of tea, flavors I’ve never had before. Then a pretty star and crystal ornament. Then some jam and biscotti in a basket. Finally a cute teapot that is brown with white dots (after it was mentioned, yes I can kind of see the resemblance to an acorn!). The note was best of all. It really touched my heart to know that I was appreciated by someone who has never seen me in person.

Have you tried the rooibos tea yet? It’s very festive 🙂 (Also, native to mah homeland. See, I’m sharing boring facts already. Wait ’til I crack out the 3 hr Powerpoint presentation muah ha ha ha haaaa!)

Since I have a curiousity streak a mile wide, break out the powerpoint presentation. Help me forget how badly my Solstice open house failed. Two adults and two children showed up over a 5 hour period. I feel like crawling into a closet to hide. Trying to find the a positive outlook…
I’ve been so busy between gifts, food and cleaning that I haven’t had a chance to try the teas yet. How is it festive?

It’s festive because it’s cinnamon and orange flavoured 😀 (Doesn’t take much to impress me, obvs – hee!)

My darlin’ dear, I owe you big time. I admit to being a bit nervous about trying the roobos tea. You see I’m not a fan of orange in anything other than my orange juice. I have enough of my Scottish ancestry in me that I am leery of trying anything new for the fear I will not like it and then will have wasted money. (there is that money bugaboo again)
I tried the tea today. The orange flavor was barely noticeable, just a faint background note. The cinnamon was not as strong as I would like but it was good. (My favorite tea is a straight cinnamon tea but is caffeinated.) The other flavors blended well enough that it didn’t seem much different from regular black tea. The lack of caffeine means I can have it any time of day. I will definitely be looking into more roobos tea!

Oh goody! *delighted clapping* I am so glad you like it 😀 Rooibos is a wonder and is luckily very easy to find now in N. America. Most of it is flavoured – whereas I prefer the plain – so I’m sure you’ll find something good. Otherwise, I’ll just keep sending you packets of the cinnamon-orange – I’ve got LOTS of stamps! Little folk remedy for you: rooibos with honey and lemon is excellent for sore throats.

I’ll keep that in mind. I usually use mint tea.
By the way, my son loved the stamps you used. Had me cut them off the package, then tried to pull them apart. When I finally convinced him that they would not come off. He put it on his desk to keep with all his other “gotta keep” stuff.

Aww 🙂 Next time I won’t overlap them! I’ll see if I can scrounge up the other 2 stamps that match – pretty sure there are still left over at work.
