Forest Jubilee
Deep in the forest,
A double pipe was heard.
The birds joined the tune.
The Korybantes danced
through their forms
beating their shields
in time to the pipe’s
rollicking melody.
Only to be joined
by lumbering bears
skipping and wheeling
bringing them face to face.
The trees hummed,
the rocks clacked and
the Dryads slipped in
with a counter melody.
The lions roared
And the wolves howled
with approval and joy.
Why all the joy?
To honor Lady Hekate,
Divine friend of dogs,
Lady of the paths,
Lightbearer.
