Heliogenna Day Three–Honoring the Kthonic Deities and the Blessed Dead

December 19, 2008

Today on the third day of Heliogenna I honor the Kthonic deities and the blessed dead.

lord Hades who is strong and firm in his rule yet not unkind
lady Persephone who is fierce and merciful in her duties
grandfather Kronos who is now ruler of the blessed isles
ghostly Hekate who is guide, guardian and witch roving
Hermes who is guide, guardian and magician honorable
Dioskouroi who are mortal and divine justice-loving
Eumenides who are pleased with atonement
thread-handling Moirae who know all plans and schemes
and all other Underworld deities not mentioned here
but no less honored by me.

I honor the blessed dead.
My ancestors, known and unknown.
The ancestors of my spiritual path
The ancestors of my country

This is particularly appropos and poignant to me today, given that we lost a family member this afternoon. Thank you.
